Imagine a ceremony at a romantic secret garden, hidden in the depths of the beautiful botanical gardens spanning some six hectares where you are surrounded by lush greenery, tropical plants, a fountain, fish pond and wooden lattice bridge. The garden was designed by Guiseppe Codali, the Italian head gardener at the Alameda towards the end of the 19th century.
Known as 'The Dell', the garden can accommodate up to 25 guests with the remainder of your guests standing on the bridge with a bird's eye view of the proceedings. The bridge is covered with purple bougainvillea, ivy and golden chalice vine and is a popular photo hotspot for newlyweds and their guests.
This intimate, sub-tropical garden is hired out for your exclusive use for the ceremony. There are other areas of the gardens available for hire to host your ceremony and reception such as the Lions Pond, Molly Bloom, Bandstand and the Open Air Theatre. Each offers a unique experience and capacity.
No food, drink nor confetti are permitted in most parts of the gardens but you may use birdseed. In areas where food and drink is permitted, this will only be as pre-booked in your package and cold canapes, finger food or a picnic in the park are available. Live music is permitted and we can arrange for a classical or flamenco guitarist, singers, violinists or even a string quartet. Let us know what you have in mind and we'll arrange it for you! Package price shown is the total for the couple.
