Wedding venues

Civil Ceremony venues:

Registry Office
John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Lawrence Harvey, Margaret Leighton, Frederick Forsythe, Sean Connery & Roger Moore to name but a few are some of the legends who got married at the Gibraltar Registry Office. Simple & elegant with yellow painted walls and a glass patio door leading out to a perfectly quaint garden with a large oak tree beneath which you may be married...it's so pretty that you may just get the urge to actually 'tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree'! The registry office is suitable for smaller wedding parties and can squeeze in up to 40 guests at the discretion of the registrar.

The Dell
One of the most popular venues for an al-fresco spring/summer/autumn wedding, The Dell is a secluded, romantic, Italian garden hidden away in the depths of the botanical gardens and designed by Genoese horticulturist, Guiseppe Codali at the end of the 19th century. His Italian influence is apparent throughout The Dell with its exotic plants, flowers, fish pond, fountain and wooden lattice bridge which is covered with purple bougainvillea and golden chalice vine.

Here, you may be married in an intimate ceremony surrounded by the tropical plants & flowers which provide the gorgeous backdrop for the wedding album. The Dell allows up to 15 guests to be present with the couple tying the knot in the sunken area underneath the bridge. More guests may be accommodated by standing on the bridge itself and watching the proceedings from above with the couple taking their vows away from the bridge. The average size of wedding party hiring the Dell is between 12-35.

The Open Air Theatre
If you have quite a large wedding party, you may wish to consider the Open Air Theatre within the gardens with its capacity for up to 450 guests. A large stage, surrounded by grassy terraces, is available for your entertainment and guests respectively. Couples generally stand on a stone pier which extends into the large, fish filled pond in the centre of the garden for the ceremony although they may be asked to step back on 'land' to actually take their vows as per the legal requirement!
